What Makes Camp Special
This is a camp that supports children with fun-filled summer games and outdoor activities, balanced with plenty of down-time to enjoy long summer days with friends, all in a culture guided and shaped by experienced staff members, Christian Community priests, and alumni of camp who come back year after year as beloved counselors. It is a special time, where children can be children!
Campers spend these summer days swimming, fishing, paddle boarding, and boating on the lake, as well as hiking and crafting with their groups. Every day begins with the whole camp gathered for joyous singing and a story that stretches out over the course of 2 weeks. And every night ends with more singing, more stories, campfires, star-gazing, and plenty of laughter. Creativity, community, and deep bonds of friendship are the signatures of Camp Harmony Lake.
Treasured camp traditions — that reach back 50 years — inspire a quick bond between the campers and the counselors, creating a feeling of belonging and ‘home’ in the special community we build together.
Endless Fun
Laughter, song, adventure, and everlasting connections are just a few joys of our beautiful summer camp experience! Started over fifty years ago, Camp Harmony Lake offers a wonderful learning experience for rising 4th to 8th grade children. At camp, children learn from counselors and peers to appreciate real connections, the beauty of song, the love of adventure, and much more — all while in the embrace of Mother Nature.
Disconnecting Lets us Really Connect
One of the greatest gifts we give the children at camp is the opportunity to live in the moment. At camp there are no cell phones, no computers, we even ask that campers their watches at home. It is a wonderful place to entirely disconnect from technology and the stresses it brings, engaging fully with games, chores, stories, and adventures the counselors have lovingly prepared for them.
A Day at Camp
In the quiet of the early morning… the counselors and staff silently gather around the tents and cabins of the sleeping children and sing a song to the morning. Awakening day and rousing the children from their slumber, night’s stillness is broken with song and a new day of camp has begun!
Each day the camp gathers for three delicious meals made from scratch in our kitchen, often with the help of one of the groups. After breakfast and lunch there is an all camp assembly full songs and a morning and evening story that weaves through camp.
In the remaining free time each counselor builds a daily rhythm to best serve the needs of each group of children. Sports, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, and swimming are balanced with artistic activities such as skits, painting, handcrafts, singing, and storytelling. A quiet time after lunch allows for reading or resting–a necessary breather in the pattern of the day.
Interspersed throughout camp are special all-camp activity days, including Skit Day, Adventure Course Day, and Fair Day, where counselors and campers release their creativity together! On the last night the entire camp gathers one last time around a massive bonfire built by the oldest groups.
At camp, our ever-present joy and laughter encircle the challenges of learning and sharing together. At home in nature, our time spent at camp forms a special and unique community experience. As they return home, the spirit of camp lives on in the heart of each child.
CONNECTIONS
Our connection to The Christian Community
Our camp is part of The Christian Community's long tradition of summer camps that have grown out of congregational life at altars all around the world. This camp is supported by seven congregations throughout the eastern coastal region of the U.S. and Canada. While many of the children are a part of one or another of these congregations, new friends, classmates, and relatives from various backgrounds come every year.

Sundays at Camp
Sunday mornings offer an opportunity for us all to turn toward the altar and experience the Sunday Service for Children. This is a special religious service of The Christian Community offered to grade-school children; it is an invitation to pray together with gratitude and reverence for God. All children regardless of religious affiliation are welcome.
